ONLY ENROLLED STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS MAY ATTEND LESSONS, NO SIBLINGS OR FRIENDS, PLEASE.AbsencesThe tuition you pay reserves a place for you in a weekly lesson, therefore, there is no reduction for absences. If you know that you are going to be absent, please call the Music School and leave a message that you will not be coming, your teacher will then call you or post the assignments for that week. If an emergency necessitates a prolonged absence, please contact your teacher for help in making arrangements for your child to make up his/her work. Remember, tuition is a monthly fee; there is no reduction for absences. Two make-up lessons per school year are permitted for private and semi-private students if the teacher’s schedule permits. These make-ups will likely be offered on a different day if the teacher’s schedule is full. The teacher is not required to make up any lessons that are not cancelled, at least, 24 hours in advance, except for unexpected illness. There will be no further make-up scheduled if a student misses a make-up lesson.StudentsPlease remember to wash your hands before your lessons. No food, drinks or friends. We will provide bleach wipes for instruments before each lesson and hand sanitizer as needed. Check the face mask sign posted each week in the classroom and hallway, and please comply with those instructions. Be sure to bring all music and materials to each lesson, including the first one, if you are a returning student. RecitalsAn exciting part of your child’s musical experience will be the opportunity to participate in recitals. Times for our Christmas and June recitals are already scheduled. Please see the 2023-2024 calendar, following in this policy, so you can reserve these dates now. Family, relatives and friends are encouraged to attend these events and share in our musical achievements. Two recitals will be held this year: A Christmas recital in December and our June combined recital. These programs offer students the chance to set and complete goals, share their music, and develop performance skills.WithdrawalsEach customer agrees to provide the Music School with a four (4) week written notice when withdrawing their student from a class or lesson. Failure to attend your lessons does not constitute a withdrawal notice. Should it be absolutely necessary for you to leave, we ask that you discuss this with your child’s teacher outside the lesson time. Please consider your child’s musical education a long-term commitment. Unofficial withdrawal and no shows will be held responsible for any tuition charges in the interim.Tuition30-minute private lesson – $100.00 45-minute semi-private or small group (3 students) lesson – $89.00 There will be a $30.00 per family, recital fee due with the March tuition.2023-2024 CalendarLabor Day Holiday – September 4, 2023 Thanksgiving Vacation – November 20 through 24, 2023 Christmas Recital – December 17, 2023 Winter Vacation – December 18, 2023 through January 5, 2024 President’s Day – February 19, 2024 Spring Vacation – March 25-29, 2024 Memorial Day Holiday – May 27, 2024 Spring Recital – Sunday, June 9, 2024 Six Week Summer Enrichment Session – June 10 through July 19, 2024ParentsYour child’s interest in music classes or private study may not always maintain a steady level. Some weeks there may be an abundance of practice and other weeks the practice times may be infrequent. These fluctuations are perfectly normal. Consistent attendance will aid in musical success, so do not skip class or lessons just because you haven’t practiced enough. Students will learn something in the group or lesson each week. If you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the class, please arrange to talk to your child’s teacher. This may well be the first serious commitment your child has ever made, and as you know; your child will be only as committed as you are. You can give your student a big advantage by helping them set up a daily practice schedule as soon as the new season starts. A “set time” each day will help them remember without constantly having to be reminded. The study of music is rewarding and enjoyable but it is also work, if it weren’t everybody could play. Remember, we all have bad days or even weeks. We will be concerned only if these “bad weeks” continue over a prolonged period. If this occurs we will contact you to see if we can work out a solution together. We hope that our teaching and your support at home (with encouragement, praise and guidance) will form a strong and effective team. While lesson time is important, the major part of the work has to be done at home. It takes discipline to practice daily but it is the single most important element in learning to play an instrument. Please read this practice contract and agreement carefully and discuss it! Sign and return the bottom half and keep the top half as a practice reminder.Student SectionI agree to follow the guidelines of practice set by me teacher this year. I understand that the length of time I am to practice will vary, depending on my age, ability and material being studied. I understand that practice must be consistent and I agree to strive for minimum of 5 days a week. I understand that continued failure to abide by this contract could result in the loss of a lesson time. Please type your full name to serve as a digital signature:Parent SectionI have read the music school policy and agree to the terms.
